Before Your Session
Prepare for your tattoo with the following tips.
Pay special attention if this is your first tattoo!
A Few Days Before
Begin to hydrate your body from the inside out by drinking plenty of water. You can also begin to moisturize and gently exfoliate your skin if you like. Dry and dehydrated skin can be more difficult to tattoo, which could result in a longer session.
Don't worry about shaving! Some clients think they've done me a favor by shaving before their session. However if you aren't already a pro, tattooing over stubble or razor burn can cause issues. I shave all kinds of folks for each session, I'm pretty good at it now.

Don't drink alcohol the night before (or day of) your session. Alcohol thins the blood and can cause excessive bleeding during the tattoo. This can affect ink saturation. Plus, getting tattooed while hungover is no fun.
The Day of Your Session
Eat a meal and arrive well-rested in comfy clothes. Some people get cold during tattoos, others get hot. It's best to bring removable layers! Make sure the area being tattooed is easily accessible. If you're unsure what to wear for a specific placement, just ask!

Bring a valid ID, water, and a snack. Occasionally a person's blood sugar may drop during or after the session, so a sweet treat can help.

You are welcome to bring one guest with you to your appointment. More than that can be distracting (exceptions if guests are also getting tattooed).

You are welcome to bring entertainment such as headphones or a book to read. I am happy to chat with you or provide a silent session.

Communicate whether you have any specific discomforts, injuries, or necessary accommodations that may affect the tattoo process.
During Your Session
Communication is an ongoing process, so let me know how you're feeling. I'm happy to take any breaks you need to stretch, readjust, or go to the restroom. Breaks help me too!

Feel free to ask questions about any part of my process. My goal is to make sure you're as comfortable as possible and happy with the outcome of your session.
