Aftercare
Care for your healing tattoo with the following steps. If at any point you have any questions about the healing process, email me at jasminedillonart@gmail.com.
The First Day
Unless you have an allergy, I will clean and apply a second-skin type adhesive bandage to your tattoo (such as Saniderm or Recovery Dermshield). The bandage is a thin, waterproof film that is microperforated to allow oxygen to pass through so that the tattoo can "breathe" as it heals.

Leave this bandage on for 3 days. (If you experience irritation or the bandage comes off early, see the section titled "Healing without a bandage")

It is normal and expected for your tattoo to seep plasma, ink, and even some blood under the bandage. This is normal and healthy as the tattoo heals as a wound.

Do not swim or submerge your new tattoo in water other than showering for the next 10 days, and try not to sweat excessively (like working out!) for the next 3 days.
After 3 days
Remove the bandage in the shower under warm water to help loosen the adhesive. Wash your tattoo with an unscented soap to remove excess dried ink and plasma. Allow to air dry, and then apply a thin layer of an unscented lotion. Fragrance and essential oils are irritating to skin and can slow healing. Keep your tattoo lightly moisturized, but don't overdo it.

Your tattoo will likely get dry and dull and begin to peel. Itchiness is normal as well, but please don't scratch or pick at your skin, it is in a delicate stage. Do not swim or submerge in water while your tattoo is peeling.

Once peeling has finished, your tattoo will continue to heal for a few weeks. Try to keep it out of the sun and apply sunscreen to protect it from sun damage. SPF is the best insurance for the longevity of your tattoo.
Healing Without a Bandage
Gently wash the tattoo with an unscented/antibacterial soap and pat dry with a clean paper towel. With clean hands, Apply a thin layer of ointment (like Aquaphor) to act as a barrier for healing. This layer should be a thin glaze, not goopy at all!
Do this 3x a day for 5 days. Be extra careful not to scratch, pick, or disturb the area at this critical stage in healing!

Days 5-10, wash twice a day and apply a light unscented lotion. Do not swim or submerge in water while your tattoo is peeling. Don't scratch or pick!
